Bus depot charging systems contribute to the electrification of public transport in the capital region
Electric vehicles are rapidly gaining ground in professional and public transport. To develop and operate smoothly from one day to the next, e-mobility requires a sufficient number of functional and efficient charging systems at key transport locations. In summer 2022, we implemented a charging system for electric buses at Helsingin Bussiliikenne Oy’s Ojanko bus depot in Vantaa and Roihupelto bus depot in Helsinki. The client was Helsingin Bussiliikenne.
The Ojanko and Roihupelto depots are among the largest bus depots under electrification in Finland, and Helsingin Bussiliikenne has purchased a large number of electric buses for these depots. Buses run day and night and the charging system is actively used around the clock.
Under this turnkey contract, we built a total of 80 charging points for both depots, with a total capacity of over 3 MW. The contract included the installation and configuration of Kempower charging equipment, as well as the servicing and maintenance of the charging equipment in the depots.
