Railway fleet

Modern railway fleet for a wide range of different track work

Destia’s railway fleet and additional equipment have been especially designed for railway construction and maintenance. We offer our customers track construction and maintenance on a turnkey principle with our own fleet.

The wheeled railway equipment is suitable for a diverse range of our functions in the railway environment. We have been expanding and renewing our tamping fleet since 2010 with the introduction of the multi-purpose Matisa B 66 UC universal tamper (2010), the powerful Plasser & Theurer Duomatic 08-32 C tamping machine (2013), the multi-purpose Plasser & Theurer Unimat 09-475/4S universal tamper (2016) and the updated carriage-mounted Plasser & Theurer 08 275 ZW universal tamper (2016).

We have expanded out range of traction equipment by acquiring the Tka9 Railbear track and service car (2008) and the Plasser & Theurer OBW-100 (2014). We use traction equipment widely in different construction and maintenance work and in winter snow-clearing.

Through our innovative development work, we have developed equipment tailored to many different customer needs, such as wheeled railway excavators.

Universal tampers

Matisa B 66 UC

The Matisa B 66 UC universal tamper, which uses the most advanced tamping technology in the field. Acquired in 2010.

Destia’s Matisa B 66 UC universal tamper, a.k.a. MASA, is suitable for tamping both rails and points. ‘Tamping’ means compressing the ballast under the tracks and, at the same time, repairing the geometry of the tracks, so that vertical and horizontal errors that might disrupt the passage of trains can be corrected. The tracks must always be tamped when constructing new tracks and in maintenance work, for example to repair frost damage.

The total weight of the machine is 105 tonnes, its length 36 metres and highest speed 100 km/h (at present in Finland 70 km/h).

Plasser & Theurer Duomatic 08-32 C

The dual-sleeper Plasser & Theurer 08-32 Duomatic tamping machine, acquired in 2013.

This tamping machine is suitable for construction and maintenance work on fast tracks. The weight of the machine is 75 tonnes, its length 27 metres and highest line speed 100 km/h (at present in Finland 70 km/h).

Plasser & Theurer Unimat 08-16ZZ

We use this machine in maintenance tamping work on tracks. The Plasser & Theurer Unimat 08-16ZZ is a single-sleeper line tamping machine. The weight of the machine is 50 tonnes, its length 29 metres and highest permitted speed 70 km/h (structural speed 80 km/h).

Plasser & Theurer 08 275 ZW

Our carriage-mounted machine for track and points tamping. We transport the machine to the site on a carriage. On account of its size, it is very suitable, for example, for use in metro tunnels. It weighs 30 tonnes and has a maximum permitted speed of 40 km/h.

Other railway machinery

Tka9 Railbear

Our track and service car, which can pull up to 400 tonnes. We use this machine, Finland's newest track and service car commissioned in 2008, to move trains, to transfer carriages at construction sites and in winter to clear snow. The weight of the machine is 40 tonnes and its highest permitted speed 70 km/h (structural speed 80 km/h).

Plasser & Theurer OBW-100

A heavy work machine commissioned in 2014, with a hauling capacity of 800 tonnes.

We use the OBW 100 work machine when there is a need to move heavy loads such as large consignments of rails or hundreds of tonnes of ballast. In winter, we install snow ploughs on the machine. It weighs 70 tonnes and has a maximum permitted speed of 80 km/h.

Move 66

We use these work machines (2 pcs) on construction sites to transfer carriages and in winter as snow ploughs. Move 66 has been designed as a switching locomotive for industrial tracks, with a three-axle rigid-frame chassis. It weighs 50 tonnes and has a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

Plasser & Theurer SSP 110 SW

Our ballast sweeping machine, which we use to plough, sweep and profile the ballast bed. The ballast sweeper is equipped with a ballast hopper. It also has profiling brushes for concrete and wooden sleepers. It weighs 39 tonnes, is 18 metres long and has a maximum permitted speed of 70 km/h.

An excavator equipped with track wheels

We carry out a wide range of functions in maintenance and construction contracts. We offer additional equipment for all construction and maintenance done in the railway environment.
