Destia has started building wind park infrastructure for Vestas in Mutkalampi in Central and Northern Ostrobothnia. Upon completion in 2022, the wind park will be the largest in Finland, providing 400 megawatts of renewable energy for the customers of a French green energy provider, Neoen. The energy will be generated by 69 wind turbines that will be provided by Vestas, world’s leading wind turbine provider.
As part of the contract, Destia plans and builds the site roads and hardstands, performs the foundation works for the turbines, and builds the collector system for the energy grid of the wind park. Destia uses the latest digital project tools, such as data analysis, to ensure fast and accurate delivery of the project.
“This is a strategic win for Destia. As electricity consumption is growing, the production of energy needs to become more sustainable. The shift towards renewable energy sources is accelerating, which is a great opportunity for Destia to grow in this field by building on our existing infrastructure construction and energy network capabilities,” says Pasi Tammivaara, Head of Renewable Energy Business Unit at Destia.
“We selected Destia for the Mutkalampi project because they have strong experience in building large-scale infrastructure projects and energy networks. This way we can have the construction services from a single supplier. In addition, Destia’s use of digital project tools makes it easy and fast to receive accurate and timely information on the build, which helps us stay on track with the project timeline,” says Yoann Tastu, Senior Project Manager, Vestas.
