Customer-oriented service is the foundation of service production
Customer-oriented service is the foundation of Destia’s service production. The key to our customer-oriented service is keeping customer promises and implementing services following the objectives set, in an efficient, high-quality and economic fashion. Based on customer surveys, Destia’s services are considered of high quality, and Destia is seen as a reliable operator which also participates in the development of the entire field.
The realisation of services is guided by our company values and ethical principles as well as the statutes in force in the field. Responsible methods are part of Destia’s everyday project operations. We pay special attention to the transparency of our operations, and we have zero tolerance to misuse.
several large projects
In 2014, Destia’s most important projects included the completion of Finland’s biggest ever motorway project, E18, the starting of the upgrade work of National Road 5 at Mikkeli, and the construction of the RU2 Riippa−Eskola double track. In addition, the concreting work of the LNG tank in Pori and the metro site in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area are amongst the most significant projects of the year.
In 2014, the water towers in Porvoo and Raasepori, which were in a bad condition, were also repaired and strengthened. Water towers are often important tourist sights, and they have cultural historical value. With many water towers, no construction modifications are permitted. Destia was in charge of the reconstruction contracts of the water towers in Hamari, Porvoo, and Raasepori, Tammisaari, which took some six months to complete, with the purpose of ensuring the safety of these water towers in future too.
In 2014, Destia launched the updating of its operating system. The system is used to guide project realisation from sales to finishing projects. The new system combines quality, safety and environmental aspects with project management realisation.
Digitalisation improves productivity
Digitalisation offers the opportunity to make technological leaps forward and to improve productivity across the infrastructure field. It also makes it possible to offer customers new products and services. In addition, up-to-date information on project progress and key contents can be obtained.
One of the most tangible examples of digitalisation is the increase in the use of power tool automation. Power tool automation makes use of three-dimensional computer models of the excavation work of roads and tracks, for example. Currently, computer model-based design is in use in all large road projects. Destia intends to expand the use of model-based design to all sites where the utilisation of this approach is worthwhile.
Quality management and environmental management in a key role
The working practices, guidelines and responsibilities based on Destia’s operating policies have been assembled in the company’s operating system, which is based on international standards and Finnish quality criteria of the field. Destia possesses a combined international ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental certificate, covering the company’s infrastructure construction, infrastructure maintenance, aggregates services and railway business. Destia's operations comply with the requirements specified in the certification.
Through procedures that are consistent with the quality and environmental certificate requirements, Destia ensures the provision of high-quality, environmentally-conscious operations for its customers and stakeholders. In addition, Destia’s operating practices comply with the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
