Ferry services
Finland is a country with thousands of lakes and
islands. Where there are no bridges, ferries are
your transport. The statistics show that the lure of
the sea and inland waterways is strong, as each year,
ferries carry some 5 million vehicles and 10 million
passengers. According to the Finnish Highways Act,
ferries are a part of the national road network and
therefore free of charge for road users.
The Finnish ferry transport market is worth around
EUR 50 million, and Destia’s market share is more
than half of the total. Forty Destia ferries operate
in winter and 46 during the summer. In addition to
the Finnish Road Administration, Destia also serves
municipalities, the Finnish Maritime Administration
and private road maintenance associations with ferry
crossings.
